Identity and Belonging

“Together feels better than being alone, and when we feel lost, belonging feels like home.” (Year 5 student, 2021)

We all want to feel valued for who we are. We all want to feel like we belong.

But how does identity link to self worth, emotional regulation, and children and young people’s  mental health?
Childhood and adolescence is a core time when the brain develops, particularly in regard to self identity, relationships with others, and sense of ‘place’ in the world. We could also call this a sense of belonging.
This affects CYP’s behaviour, choices, personal goals, motivations, relationships, and wellbeing.
This webinar will explore the importance of identity and belonging in children and young people’s lives, and how we can foster belonging in our learning spaces.
