Me+You Project Keeps The Young People Of Bristol Talking…..
Me+You is an early intervention to domestic violence for young people in Bristol. Last year schools in east Bristol were visited with a drama performance and creative, interactive workshops.
Since reporting successful results from work carried out earlier this year, Unique Voice were commissioned to host follow up workshops to schools, revisiting some of the key messages explored and continuing to building on young people’s social and emotional development.
The workshops revisited the characters met in the performance of Me+You and explored the choices, decisions and consequences of their actions. Alongside this the workshops challenged young people to look their own choices, friendships and attitudes towards control.
The result? Although the data isn’t in yet we already know the following;
Young people engage extremely well with this form of learning.
The answers given from young people during the workshops show a maturity and sensitivity to this subject even from children of a young age.
The messages from the performance and workshops have stuck with the young people for a significant amount of time, showing the effectiveness of the project as a whole.
“This is a very powerful performance and workshop. It covers so many aspects of the PSHE scheme. The quality and experience of Unique Voice is excellent. Our students have highly engaged in both phases of this project in this highly interactive and personal way. VERY powerful.”
Dawn Fretten, PSHE Leader, Colston Girl’s School Bristol
