Unique Voice is a nationally accredited social enterprise working frontline in schools and communities across the South West of England, delivering creative programmes using the Arts as a medium to make a positive and long-lasting social impact to over 65,000 young people to date.
Unique Voice create programmes designed to enable young people to learn, develop and grow in all aspects of their socio-educational and emotional development whether that is through classroom based learning or community campaigns. Unique Voice has a glowing reputation for providing current and engaging programmes on topics such as mental health, crime and anti-bullying with much of their work aligned to safeguarding and early intervention based services through performance, film and workshop programmes.
About the role:
We are currently looking for facilitators to lead and assist with the delivery of our Creative programmes that work with vulnerable young people. These include young offenders, those attending alternative education provisions, those at risk of offending and vulnerable young people. The aim of our programmes vary to helping young people to achieve national qualifications to enhancing attainment through creativity.
A passion for working with challenging young people is key to this role, with strong skills in building positive and effective relationships. You are not required to have had experience with drama or film, however experience and a belief of the importance of using a creative approach is key. You will be required to take on a ‘Mentor’ style role in your approach, as you support and guide these young people through the programme to success.
- Experience working with young people (age 12-18 years).
- Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour.
- Passion for the arts and using the arts/creativity to help enhance learning.
- Strong skills assisting workshops with young people.
- To be open, encouraging and excellent at quickly building rapport with young people.
- Empathise with young peoples different needs and concerns.
- The ability to listen and respond to young people’s learning styles and abilities.
- To be adaptable to working in different environments, with children from different backgrounds and learning abilities.
- Are engaging, fun and imaginative.
- Clear understanding of behaviour management strategies and the ability to execute successfully.
- To be flexible, reliable, punctual and able to work within a dynamic team.
- Full professionalism in all levels of work.
- Are able to undergo references checks from previous employers.
- Willingness to under go a DBS check and registration onto the update service.
- Willingness to work as a freelance professional.
- Skills and experience working with young people with SEND.
- Experience working with young offenders.
- Experience delivering/assisting arts/creative workshops.
- Experience in dealing with child disclosures.
