We independently fundraise to provide much needed free out-of-school provision and things to do for young people and families in Bristol. We always aim to run free provisions for children and young people in every school holiday throughout the year. For a city with such a wealth of culture and art, exciting activities and opportunities, it can be astonishing to learn about the deprivation many residents experience. Every child should be able to enjoy the school holidays, a time to relax, have fun, and experience enriching activities. This, however, is not the case for hundreds of families in Bristol.

We have 7 years of experience working with children in our communities, because of this we have strong relationships with many agencies and schools who we work together with to ensure children are as protected and nurtured as possible.

By taking part in our stimulating and creative activities, children are able to develop better communication and social skills – and are given an opportunity to express themselves. Having increased confidence and self-worth can help tackle low self esteem, which often occurs in vulnerable young people.

All of the activities that the young people take part in are accessible and designed for all abilities. This, coupled with the leaders excellent behaviour management skills and compassion, creates a safe and stimulating space for children to enjoy and flourish in.

Confidence

Through creative activities we aim to boost children’s confidence

Self-esteem

Through support and positive reinforcement we aim to increase children’s self-esteem

Social cohesion

We work in various communities across Bristol, bringing young people together from all walks of life

Learn new skills

We offer programmes following a different theme in order to allow children to learn new skills and discuss new topics

We don’t just apply for funding pots, we independently fundraise for our holiday programmes too! Every year we host a fundraising event – The Unique Voice Summer Party and we have on ongoing campaign called #Help100. The aim of this campaign is to raise enough funds to provide 100 hours of out of school provision to 100 of Bristol’s most disadvantaged children.

For too many young people life has been very hard, and frequently they need the fundamental values of love, trust and respect restored. By building relationships and fostering trust, our projects give young people the tools to feel stable, to become more resilient and to develop self-respect.

Often it’s during school holidays and weekends that children can become involved in risky or unsafe behaviour, can suffer loneliness or boredom. We want those children to have the opportunity to attend regular programmes, holiday clubs and Saturday schools, with leaders they know, trust and are inspired by.

Working in some of the most deprived areas of Bristol, we have met many children who have experienced more challenges and obstacles than many adults. It is these children who sometimes miss out on their childhoods and are statistically at risk of repeating intergenerational challenges.

We have years of experience working with the disadvantaged children in our communities, because of this we have strong relationships with many agencies and schools who we work together with to ensure children are as protected and nurtured as possible.

By taking part in our stimulating and creative activities, children are able to develop better communication and social skills – and are given an opportunity to express themselves. Having increased confidence and self-worth can help tackle low self esteem, which often occurs in vulnerable young people.

Making new friends and having new experiences can really help broaden young people’s horizons, showing them that there are many different opportunities in life and so many paths they can follow. Often making new friends from different schools can be very healthy for marginalised young people when breaking stereotypes and relieving prejudices.

All of the activities that the young people take part in are accessible and designed for all abilities. This, coupled with the leaders excellent behaviour management skills and compassion, creates a safe and stimulating space for children to enjoy and flourish in.
