Youth Engagement Worker Required

What are we looking for?

Our community services are expanding and we are currently looking to broaden our hub of freelance youth engagement workers to be involved in future community programmes.

Community Programmes include after school drama clubs, parent paid creative holiday programmes, free creative holiday programmes for disadvantaged and vulnerable young people and one-off community events.

We are looking for youth engagement workers who are confident delivering and assisting creative workshops to children and young people. A passion for working with challenging young people is key to this role, with strong skills in building positive and effective relationships.

Skills, Experience and Qualities needed

Essential 

  • Experience and passion of working with children and young people.
  • Interest in the arts and using creativity to help enhance learning.
  • To be confident working in a workshop environment
  • To be open, encouraging and excellent at quickly building rapport with young people.
  • Empathise and respond to young peoples different needs, abilities and concerns, including young people with SEND.
  • Awareness of challenges faced by children and young people in Bristol.
  • Are engaging, fun and imaginative
  • Full professionalism in all levels of work.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • To be flexible, reliable, and punctual.
  • To be adaptable to working in different environments, with children from different backgrounds and learning abilities.
  • An understanding of the issues and challenges faced by children and young people in Bristol.

Desirable 

  • Full, clean driving license and your own vehicle.
  • Full professionalism in all levels of work.
  • Skills and experience working with young people with SEND.
  • Experience of working with children and young people from deprived areas in Bristol and facing multiple disadvantages.
  • Experience in dealing with child disclosures.
